William Gibbs, MD

Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine located in New York, NY

Meet Dr. Gibbs

Dr. Gibbs is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) as well as the American Board of Pain Medicine. He had been in private practice since 2002.  He is the Host of "Good Medicine with Dr. Will Gibbs" which airs on One Caribbean Television which can be seen in nearly 30 countries throughout the Caribbean as several major U.S. cities on RCN Cable.

He has been the Chief of Service of the Department of Rehabilitation at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, the Medical Director of the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine at the New York Hospital Queens, served as Director of Rehabilitation for Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica, NY, and the Medical Director for the Center for Rehabilitation in Flushing, New York.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Gibbs gained valuable experience as a resident of New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital. At one of the country’s premiere medical facilities, he received training in general in-patient and outpatient rehabilitative care, consultations, electro-diagnostic studies, cardiac rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, interventional pain management procedures and musculoskeletal medicine.

To know Dr. Gibbs is to know a doctor who values and practices self-discipline and healthy living. The former bodybuilder has a passion for practicing medicine because it challenges him to ease his patients’ pain, and to help them get back to functional living.  He believes that most pain can be managed or eliminated with accurate and careful assessment, diagnosis and treatment.  Adding healthy living to his prescription will reduce stress, which may accentuate the patient’s pain and can block the mind’s effort to manage it.

Dr. Gibbs has been a guest lecturer at the Mt. Sinai Medical School, was honored with a 40 Under Forty Achievement Award by The Network Journal magazine in 2005, and received the Man of Distinction Award by the National Association of Health Services Executives in 2006. He is also the co-author of the second edition of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Secrets.
