Dr. Julian Mierlak obtained his MD degree from New York University School of Medicine, and completed the OBGYN residency program at NYU/Bellevue Hospitals. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was in the private practice of Obstetrics and general Gynecology/Gynecologic surgery for 13 years, after which he became a member of the Faculty Group at St.John’s Episcopal, Queens, providing the same OBGYN services and supervising and training midwives and residents. He obtained his Master’s in Health Care Administration in 1999, and returned to NYC’s public hospital system. He was formerly Director of Ambulatory Obstetrics and Gynecology at Gouverneur Diagnostic and Treatment Facility, which is affiliated with Bellevue Hospital, followed by being named Chief of Service of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bellevue Hospital. His roles at these institutions included office-based patient care, obstetrics, and supervision and training of midwives and residents.
Dr. Mierlak’s clinical focus since 2011 is on office-based general gynecology: well-woman care; menopausal transition; family planning; STD prevention and treatment; pelvic/abdominal pain; unexpected vaginal bleeding; and irritative genital symptoms. He has a special interest in cervical cancer screening and chronic vulvo-vaginal disorders. Every diagnosis is associated with a unique individual, as such, his practice philosophy is to tailor solutions that recognize individual needs, perspectives and values.
